Last week, a family contacted me with the desire to extend their pledge in response to the “Let’s Finish This” video. This family was planning to purchase a new car, but instead feels called to wait a year and use the money as their contribution to finishing the “Build the ARC” campaign. This family has students at Illiana with more on the way. They were honest about their feelings toward Illiana and some of the mistakes we have made. However, they believe in our vision. They believe their children are challenged to love and serve Christ at Illiana. They are inspired by the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ and how their children learn about that love through Math, Science and P.E. They are thrilled that their children sit in front of teachers who care and pray for them daily. They want to continue partnering with Illiana to raise their children.

I was inspired through this conversation. I was inspired by their commitment. I was inspired by their passion. I was inspired that they choose to support the school in spite of the issues they have. I was inspired at their generosity to give up having more “stuff” and to put that money into the vision of Christian education.

This is just one of the many stories of people and families sacrificing to make this vision a reality. This is the sacrifice, passion and inspiration that we need. It isn’t easy, but most great visions are not easy to achieve. I know we have been asking for money for three years. I know you are tired. I am tired. We all want this building project to be finished.

More than that, we want the students who will be in this building to experience the love of Jesus daily. We never, ever want them taking the gospel for granted. We want them to be inspired to be fierce lovers of Christ and to be difference makers in this world. Every gift we receive is a difference-making gift. We are currently asking you to extend your pledge by one year. You can make this pledge online on our Donate Now page or by completing this pledge card and mailing it to the school. If you want to talk with someone, email me and I will take you out for breakfast. We have a big vision, but we serve a big God. We believe we will see this vision fulfilled. Thank you for your amazing commitment.

P.S. There is still time to RSVP for next Saturday’s event. It should be a great evening. Sign up here.
