A few things and then a brief thought. I know there are a few pledge cards still out from our event a couple weeks ago. Please turn those in as soon as possible. We have raised $272,512 toward our “Let’s Finish This” goal of $1,500,000! We need to raise the remaining portion by December 31 or the ARC will not be finished at the same time as phase 1 of our campus. Anything you can do to help out would be great. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!
Yesterday was the first Praise Crowd Breakfast of the year. (If you are not familiar with these events, they are monthly breakfasts hosted by the Praise Crowd Committee at Illiana. They are completely student-run and they cook regular and chocolate chip pancakes, french toast, sausage, and hash browns. These are served alongside yogurt parfaits, coffee and orange juice. The breakfasts are an opportunity for all students to come out for a time of food, fellowship and devotions.) Yesterday, I was reminded why we do what we do as one of our seniors boys led devotions. He was talking about our theme for the year, “Be Fierce” and he was encouraging over 250 kids to live fierce lives for Jesus Christ. Then he said, “If you aren’t loving God fiercely yet, don’t worry about it. We will help get you there.” That line hit me. That is Christian Education in a nutshell. We are all helping to grow these kids’ hearts and minds as they learn to be fierce lovers of Jesus Christ. That needs to be a team effort as it takes time, investment, and love. It is what the Building Illiana campaign is all about. So I ask you a question: What can you do to help get us there? Maybe it is becoming a prayer warrior for these kids. Maybe it is volunteering to start a prayer group or becoming a mentor. Maybe it is becoming a fierce giver. Maybe it is going out in the community and sharing the importance of Christian Education. Maybe it is having real and honest conversations with your children. We all have a stake in getting our kids to become fierce lovers of Jesus Christ and that is why we do what we do.
