Happy Wednesday!

We are moving our weekly updates to Wednesday to add a little inspiration to the middle of the week. This week, we want to highlight one of the programs that will only be able to continue if we complete the ARC: drama. This weekend is the fall play, EMMA. (I encourage you to come out and see it. Performances are November 2, 3 & 4 at 7:00 pm and November 4 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $8 and available in the school office or at the door.) Our students and teachers do a phenomenal job using their talents to glorify God on the stage and behind the scenes. Over 120 of our students, about a quarter of our student body, are involved in this production. To help you understand the impact this program has on many of our students, I asked a few of them to answer the following questions. I had so many great responses, I had to choose just a couple.

How have you changed/grown as a result of your work with ICHS drama program?
When I first came to Illiana, I was shy and had no self-confidence. I felt like I was nothing. Then I joined the ICHS drama program and everything changed. Performing on stage and becoming friends with the wonderful people who make up the drama program made me realize that I was a child of God and was loved.

How has your work with the drama program affected your understanding of the Christian community?
I remember first stepping into my first practice as a freshmen and being completely terrified, but the immediate acceptance and complete love shown to me by each person was unbelievable. If you are looking for a group at Illiana that shows love like Christ, it is the drama department.

What do you think the larger Illiana Community needs to know about drama program?
It is a program that builds Christian values such as community, fellowship, trust, acceptance, servanthood, grace and love that ultimately builds great memories and shows God to others.

This is just a taste of the incredible impact the drama program has on the hearts and minds of many of our students. We need your help to make sure this program has the space to continue to impact our students and our community. Please consider extending your pledge if you haven’t done so yet. Whatever you can do to help build the ARC so there is a place for this program would be appreciated.

We would love to see you at the play this weekend!
